A nurturing, non-invasive modality with no known contraindications, Reiki is not intended to diagnose or cure.  Reiki’s purpose is to support your own innate ability to heal, and to help restore natural balance, healthy functioning, and overall wellness.  Because it facilitates healing on the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual levels, Reiki is uniquely and broadly beneficial.

During a Reiki session, people often experience deep relaxation and a peaceful, meditative spaciousness.  Many find that Reiki helps them feel more centered and connected with themselves and others.  My clients frequently report greater clarity, calm and perspective following a Reiki session, as well as the sense that they are better able to manage life’s challenges, ranging from day-to-day stresses to major life events and transitions.

Other benefits commonly reported include:

-    Reduced stress, anxiety, depression and fatigue

  1. -   Improved sleep and digestion

  2. -   Reduced physical pain and discomfort, including TMJ, sciatica, and pregnancy-related nausea

  3. -   Enhanced ability to recover from injury, illness and surgery

  4. -   Increased sense of general well-being

  5. -   Greater sense of self-awareness, inner peace and tranquility

For people living with acute or chronic illnesses, Reiki also may offer relief from disease-related symptoms and side effects of conventional medical treatments, and may help them find a sense of meaning in their experience.  In my practice, the profound sense of connection with spirit that can be experienced with Reiki has helped clients reframe their experience of acute or chronic illness -- as well as other major life challenges -- in a way that has been deeply healing, empowering and transformative.   For specific examples of benefits reported by cancer patients receiving Reiki at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, click here.

How Can Reiki Help Me?

“The best reason for a patient to receive a Reiki treatment is simply because people report that Reiki helps them feel better, frequently within minutes, relieving symptoms such as anxiety, pain, fatigue, nausea, and insomnia, and imparting a sense of centeredness.  Additionally, research supports anecdotal reports that Reiki can help patients recontextualize their illness in a way that empowers them to heal.  Reiki treatment can enhance the patient’s ability to address the challenges and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis with a clearer mind and a stronger sense of self.   Conventional cancer treatment can be experienced as a war against the disease, a fight for life in which the body becomes a battlefield.  The balancing effect of Reiki treatment can help the person recover from the collateral damage of treatment without compromising the effectiveness of conventional protocols.  At a time when so much hangs in the balance, Reiki treatment can help tip the scales in the patient’s favor.”

“Spiritual healing brings fundamental healing by helping us to become part of the universal consciousness, while energy healing centers around removing the symptoms of mind and body disorders.”
